Choosing the right mixing equipment is an important part of shampoo manufacturing. An industrial shampoo stainless steel mixing tank is designed to blend different ingredients in batches, with equipment configurations tailored to the required capacity and manufacturing process.
What Is an Industrial Shampoo Mixing Tank?
An industrial shampoo mixing tank is a stainless steel vessel used to blend water, surfactants, conditioning agents, thickeners, fragrances, and other ingredients into a liquid shampoo formulation. It provides a controlled space for combining raw materials and achieving a consistent mixture before the shampoo moves to storage.
Main Components of an Industrial Shampoo Mixing Tank
An industrial shampoo stainless steel mixing tank consists of a mixing vessel, a frame anchor agitator with wall and bottom scraping blades, a high-shear homogenizer, and a control system. An optional heating and cooling system can also be added according to the shampoo manufacturing process.
Stainless Steel Mixing Vessel
The stainless steel mixing vessel holds the raw materials during shampoo mixing. Its stainless steel construction provides a hygienic contact surface for the ingredients. The vessel capacity determines the batch volume the tank can accommodate, while its dimensions can be customized to suit the available installation space.
Frame Anchor Agitator with Wall and Bottom Scraping
The frame anchor agitator mixes the shampoo ingredients throughout the vessel. Its scraping blades follow the inner wall and bottom of the tank as the agitator rotates, moving material away from these surfaces and back into the circulating liquid.
This design supports bulk mixing and helps reduce material buildup along the tank wall and bottom during operation.
High Shear Homogenizer
The high shear homogenizer applies intensive shear to shampoo ingredients within its working area, helping disperse additives and break down agglomerates to achieve a more uniform mixture. It works alongside the frame anchor agitator, which circulates the ingredients throughout the tank, while the homogenizer provides more intensive mixing in its localized working zone.
Control System
The control system operates the frame anchor agitator and high shear homogenizer. Depending on the selected configuration, it can use button controls or a PLC system to manage equipment operation.
Heating and Cooling System (Optional)
A heating and cooling system can be added for shampoo formulations that require temperature adjustment during mixing. Heating raises the batch temperature when the process calls for it, while cooling lowers the temperature when needed. The system is not required for shampoo formulations that are mixed at room temperature.
How Does an Industrial Shampoo Mixing Tank Work?
The shampoo mixing process usually begins with adding deionized water to the stainless steel mixing vessel. Surfactants and other ingredients are then added in the order specified by the formulation while the frame anchor agitator runs to circulate the liquid throughout the tank. Its wall and bottom scraping blades move material away from the vessel surfaces and back into the main mixing flow.
When the formulation requires more intensive mixing, the high shear homogenizer can be operated to help disperse ingredients and achieve a uniform mixture.
If the tank is equipped with an optional heating and cooling system, the batch temperature can be adjusted according to the process requirements.
Once all ingredients have been incorporated and the shampoo has reached the required mixing result, the finished batch is discharged for storage.
