Embarking on the creation of a cosmetic cream production factory is a blend of art and science. It's a journey where precision meets creativity, and every detail matters. Whether you're a seasoned entrepreneur or a passionate newcomer, understanding the nuances of cosmetic cream production is key. IMMAY is here to illuminate your path with expert advice and top-tier solutions. Let's dive into the essentials and turn your vision into a reality.
Before you plan to open a new cosmetics cream factory, you first need to understand the production process of cosmetics cream.
A. Oil phase
Add oil, wax, emulsifier and other oil-soluble ingredients to the oil phase pot, stir and heat, control the temperature at 80°C to 85°C to completely dissolve them, and keep them warm for 15-20 minutes for sterilization. Be careful to avoid overheating or prolonged heating. Heating to prevent oxidation and deterioration of raw materials. Oils that are easily oxidized: preservatives and emulsifiers should be added to the oil phase before emulsification and stirred to dissolve, then emulsification can be carried out.
B. Water phase
Put the deionized water and other components of the water phase into the water phase pot together. If the water phase contains water-soluble polymer, you can use propylene glycol to disperse it well and put it into the water phase, or use the dispersion function to evenly put it into the water phase, and heat it to 85℃ while stirring. to 90°C and keep warm for 15-20 minutes.
C. Two-phase mixing
Drain the jacket condensation water from the cleaned vacuum emulsifying pot in advance before opening it.
a. O/W add the oil phase evenly into the water phase under rapid stirring conditions, and the feeding speed is 5-8KG/
minutes, the stirring speed is 50 rpm, and the temperature is controlled at 75°C to 85°C.
b. W/O add the water phase evenly and slowly into the oil phase under rapid stirring. The feeding speed is 3-5KG/min.
clock, the stirring speed is 50 rpm, and the temperature is controlled at 80°C to 85°C.
D. Homogeneous emulsification
1. Homogenization: After the two phases are mixed, turn on the homogenizer. The homogenization time is generally 3 to 5 minutes. The small pot is generally homogenized for 3 minutes. If there is a vacuum pump, the vacuum should be evacuated during homogenization to keep it in a vacuum state. Homogeneous emulsification.
2. Stirring and emulsification: After homogenization, stir and emulsify at medium speed at 80°C to 85°C for 15 to 20 minutes. The stirring speed is 25 rpm.
E. Stirring speed control
During the two-phase mixing and homogeneous emulsification, the stirring speed should be fast, with a speed of 50 rpm. During the period of heat preservation, stirring and emulsification, the stirring speed should be controlled at medium speed, 25 rpm. During the cooling process, the stirring speed should be medium speed and low speed. The speed should be 25 rpm before dropping to 45°C. Add flavors, preservatives and others below 45°C. The active material stirring speed is 20 rpm. If it can be evacuated, the entire process should be evacuated. The temperature should be controlled at 80°C to 90°C during emulsification, and the temperature should not be lower than 75°C before cooling.
The above are the general standards for the cream production process. If you encounter a more special formula production process, please combine it with the actual production.
According to the needs of the cosmetic paste production process, we need to purchase the following necessary equipments to complete production:
✅ 2 stages reverse osmosis water treatment machine
Purpose: Provides high-purity water essential for cosmetic formulations, ensuring consistent quality and removing impurities.
✅ 50-500L hydraulic lifting vacuum homogenizing emulsifier (cosmetic cream mixer machine)
Purpose: Combines oil and water phases under vacuum to create a smooth, stable emulsion, crucial for cream consistency and texture.
✅ 50-5000L stainless steel storage tank
Purpose: Stores mixed cream formulations safely and hygienically, maintaining product quality until ready for packaging.
✅ Automatic or semi-automatic cosmetic cream filling machine
Purpose: Fills cream into containers accurately and efficiently, ensuring consistent product volume and reducing human error.
✅ Automatic or semi-automatic bottle capping machine
Purpose: Seals containers securely, preserving product freshness and ensuring a professional finish for packaging.
A well-organized factory layout is essential for efficient production, compliance, and safety. Whether you're planning a small-scale workshop or a large-capacity manufacturing plant, the flow of materials and the zoning of workspaces must be carefully considered.
A. Material Flow Design
To ensure smooth and contamination-free operations, follow a logical material flow layout:
Raw Material Area: Storage of packaging materials, oils, emulsifiers, and active ingredients
Processing Area: Water treatment, vacuum emulsifying mixer, and intermediate storage tanks
Packaging Area: Filling machines, capping machines, labeling machines
Finished Product Area: Sealed product inspection, boxing, and shipping area
This linear flow—raw material in → processing → packaging → finished product out—helps prevent cross-contamination and improves production efficiency.
B. GMP Compliance and Zoning
To meet cosmetic GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, the production area should be divided into:
Clean Zone: Emulsifying, mixing, and filling zones with filtered air, positive pressure, and limited access
Semi-Clean Zone: Packaging preparation, labeling, and temporary storage
Public or Gray Zone: Administrative offices, utilities, staff changing rooms, and raw material receiving area
Clearly marked zones, with separate personnel and material flows, help maintain hygiene and prevent external contamination.
C. Utility Requirements
Successful cosmetic cream production also depends on stable utility support:
Power Supply: Ensure consistent 3-phase industrial power for vacuum mixers and heating elements
Drainage: Proper wastewater channels from mixing tanks and cleaning areas
Compressed Air: Required for pneumatic valves, bottle cappers, or packaging automation
Ventilation/Exhaust: Especially important near heating systems and solvent-handling stations
Plan for utility lines to be easily accessible for maintenance without disrupting the clean zones.
D. Equipment Layout Tips
For small batch production (50–200L): Consider compact, mobile systems arranged in a single cleanroom
For large-scale production (500L and above): Use fixed-position tanks with overhead or underground pipelines to separate hot and cold processes
Leave enough operational space around each piece of equipment for cleaning, maintenance, and operator movement
Use stainless steel platforms or cleanroom-compatible materials to elevate tanks or mixers where needed.
